Hi! I”m Hayden, the bursting-with-pride owner and creator of Dreaming in Paperbacks. I created this blog with the avid reader and college student in mind, but really anyone can get something here.
I decided to transfer universities my senior year of college so I could pursue my dream. I’m now an English and Creative Writing major at the University of Iowa. Being an editor at one of the big publishing houses is my goal, and writing and publishing my own novel(s) is my dream. Blogging is an activity I recently added to my list of hobbies, which includes writing (duh), reading (double-duh), and operating my bookstagram (@dreaming.in.paperbacks) and now Twitter account (@DPaperbacks) which both co-exist with this blog! (There is a Facebook page, but I don’t use it. You’re more than welcome to follow it, just know it’s inactive 99% of the time unless I accidentally send a post there.)
The incredibly enticing bookstagram community is what started this. I observed others for a while on my personal account before finally taking the dive and making my own. I’m still working on my own theme, because of course it’s important to me that my feed look aesthetically pleasing (personal preference, not requirement), but I think it’s going rather well so far. Shortly after creating the bookstagram I realized that I had a lot more to say about books that couldn’t fit within the confines of a photo caption (okay, maybe I could make it fit, but really who wants to read captions that go on for three pages? I usually don’t), so I hopped on WordPress and made a blog.
I’m still working on content, and I think it’s safe to say that I always will be working on content. I’m detail-oriented, a slight perfectionist when it comes to what I want to say, so I like to constantly strive to improve my writing. With time this blog will only get better, there’s not a doubt in my mind, but it will always be getting better, continuously, for the rest of time (this is of course due to the fact that I have the ability to live forever and will spend eternity posting on my blog and socials.)
When it comes down to it, this is my passion. Actually, this is all of my passions rolled into one super-passion: I’m writing, I’m reading, I’m taking beautiful photos (which will only get better I swear I know they’re not amazing yet) . . . I’d ask what could go wrong, but then it would, so I’ll just leave it here for now.
If you have WordPress, you can follow my blog. If you don’t, you can type in your email and you’ll receive an email every time I post (and I swear, stress, O N L Y when I post, there’s no newsletter and I won’t bombard you, I actually don’t even think I get access to your email when you do this so there’s no risk). You could also follow my bookstagram if you like looking at and hearing about books, and you can follow me on Twitter because I post some great stuff (if I do say so myself) and provide links to each blog post as it goes live here.
Hope you enjoy your time here and stay a while!
Anything else you’d like to know about me? Feel free to ask, I usually don’t bite. Leave a comment!
