Wow, hey there guys.
I’ll just cut to the chase; obviously I’ve been gone for a short while. Not GONE gone, just kind of not here. I’ve been a little active on my Twitter and I post every day of the week on my bookstagram, but my blog has been seriously suffering since school started.
It sucks, but I’m not that mad about it. Of course I’m upset, because I really enjoy blogging. I just started this summer but it’s quickly become a nice little escape. But I’ve just been SO BUSY. Ugh. So I figured I’d fill you in on life and why I’ve been so quiet.
I started classes at my new university in August! Yippee! I’m loving it, it’s everything I want it to be for the most part. I walk around campus and I just feel this sense of being at home, a feeling I never had at my last university. So I at least know I made the right choice, which is comforting.
I don’t have classes on Mondays, which is fun because I can continue my relaxing weekend but also start working on homework assignments. My weekends haven’t been that relaxing yet because of FOUR STRAIGHT WEEKS of home football games. It’s definitely taking its toll.
On Tuesdays I have two literature classes and a history class. On Wednesdays and Fridays I have my creative writing class. On Thursdays I have the same two literature and one history class, and at night for three hours I have an advanced writing nonfiction seminar, which is fun.
Just to keep you guys updated, I am struggling just a teeny tiny little bit. The workload is a little overwhelming, but nothing I can’t handle. And at least I’m doing stuff I genuinely enjoy, so it’s not bad.
Which is why I’ve been absent on here! I’ve been reading a lot for classes, but I’ve also been trying to read a lot in my free time. Technically I have been, but I just finished The Nightingale and no joke that book is like a million pages on and if I’m being completely honest kind of drags a little in a few parts, so it was a lot to get through. But I did it, and a review IS COMING I SWEAR I’M NOT JUST REPEATING THIS TO MESS WITH YOU ALL I AM GOING TO WRITE A REVIEW AND POST IT.
After reading that heavy book, I attempted to go onto another heavy-ish book and just couldn’t deal with it. I got about a quarter of the way through, and it’s a decent book that has a LOT of hype, but I just couldn’t read it right now. I think it’s my mindset. I think I’m just reading too much heavy stuff and need something light. Which is totally cool and totally normal and probably happens to everyone but has never happened to me. Like, my brain has never rejected a book before, so THAT was new. Sooooo now I’m reading The Princess Diaries and, spoiler alert on my opinion, I love it so much more than I thought I did. I’m actually already on the third book and started reading them maybe 4 days ago, so a review on each of the first two books will also be going up soon.
Which reminds me. I’m going to be posting once a week for a while. Like, indefinitely. At least, the goal is to post once a week. I’ll probably have to schedule these posts ahead of time. The only problem with scheduling posts for me is that I get so excited about the post that I schedule it for like .02 seconds after I wrote it, giving me next to no time to curate more content and stay consistent and blah blah blah. So hopefully I can stay strong and schedule these posts for once a week. Like this post, I’m going to finish it and want to post it right away, but I need to STAY WRONG AND POST IT TOMORROW MORNING HAYDEN STOP IT. I’m thinking Wednesdays or Mondays. Thoughts? (I’ll probably take polls on my IG and my Twitter, so look out for that, or just leave a comment here.)
What else, what else. I’m thinking up some post ideas as we speak. Neither of them have to do with books, though. That’s not actually a bad things, though, since my blog isn’t JUST about books! I mean, for the most part it is, but I want it to be more than that.
*opens Notes app on phone and quickly jots down post ideas before I forget them forever*
Okay, so I potentially have 2 months of posts sitting pretty right now. Not written, of course, but just ready to go. I wish I could get your thoughts on them, to see if they’re anything you guys would even be interested in. But I also don’t want to spoil the ideas. Maybe I’ll post quick little sneak peeks or hints at what my weekly post will be.
Sorry for this fuster cluck of a blog post, you guys. It’s been a while, and this is sort of a stream of consciousness type of thing.
I don’t know why, but that reminds me, after watching a recent podcast from my FAVORITE podcast, Jenna & Julien, I did my own astrological birth chart! (That’s probably the totally wrong way to word that, but hopefully you get it.) They said they used Cafe Astrology to get theirs, and theirs sounded super in-depth and awesome, so I went there and did mine and my boyfriend’s (and did our compatibility) and I might do my parents and sister too. It was super fun, highly recommend. And also weirdly accurate, which I didn’t expect. Not that I don’t believe in astrology, I just didn’t know how accurate I’d be. I mean, I’m a water sign and I don’t really enjoy the water at all. But maybe that’s totally irrelevant.
Anyway, I’ll end it here. Please feel more than welcome to leave thoughts on any of the things I mentioned, it will only help me out in the future.
